Believe it or not, this is an old police car search/spotlight in good used condition. It's chrome plated and measures about 15" L. I would estimate it to be from the 1950s. It has some pitting; the rubber seal is still intact, and the spotlight rotating mechanism works, although it could probably use some lubricant to make it work easier. On the light housing is imprinted "UNITY MANUF CO CHICAGO USA" "GE" is on the lens. I do not know if this is 6 or 12 volt, and I have not tested it to see if the bulb works. This is a solid birch, hand made collectible car. It was made in Europe using the tradition of old world craftsmanship, coupled with a variety of modern tools. Tools such as lathes, band saws, drill presses and shapers were used to make each individual piece, and once the pieces were fabricated they were then distributed amongst familes of craftsmen who assembled this one-of-a-kind work of art. Once completed it received a light coating of natural oil, giving it a satin-line finish. Because wood has many grains, no two items look exactly alike, so this is a one-off. Unbelievable is the only word to describe this hand made Model T car. Fashioned from brass, using hand tools and some small torch work, this unit has a raised "T" emblazoned on the door. The engine crank winds up a music box inside the engine compartment, which then plays "Happy Days Are Here Again," while moving the hood up and down, creating the put-put sound of the Model T engine. It appears to be as old as dirt, but is in great condition. Demensions are 9 inches long and 7 1/2 inches in height. I absolutely envy the craftsmanship and extensive time that someone (I wish I had known them) put into it. Display it, and I guarantee that it will be very difficult for anyone to pass it by without stopping, looking, and listening to the music.
