Automobilia/Collectibles -- Page 21

Old, slightly rare, very rare, and unbelievably rare classic automobilia & collectible items for sale

Do you remember transistor radios?! Well, this one is a old car-themed six transistor solid state am radio that was made in Japan--model #TN-616. It is in very good condition and works well. It's 6" long and 4&1/2" tall and in the original box. The original instructions are with the radio. I am not certain of the vintage of this unit, but, if I had to guess, I would say that it would be somewhere in the 60s (keep in mind that this is just a guess, please). Cost is $55.00, which includes shipping to any point in the continental USA.

This is a very large, very nice Philips Vacuum Tube type Table Radio--circa approximately late 50s/early 60s. It receives AM Broadcast and five short wave bands: 93 to 31 meters, 31 to 23 meters, 19 meters, 16 meters an 13 meters. By using so many bands, Philips managed to give you a tuning dial with which you can actually set known frequencies rather than the useless "logging scale" dials of most radios. This means you can actually go to a desired station frequency when you want to. It also means that the tuned circuits in use can be optimized for use on the band in use. All in all, a very superior radio. It has a linear Magic Eye tuning indiator that works as well. The two little round knobs are bass and treble. The 5 pushbuttons across the top are "Reverberation", "Band width" (sic), "Fidelity", "Tape", "Pickup" (phono). Woofer is 6 by 9 and mid/tweeter is 5 inches. Unusual in that it has no FM. Case is fair to good but, with a little polishing, will display well. Works beautifully. This is an amazing piece of radio history. Cost is $275.00, which includes standard surface shipping to any point in the continental USA.
